Tomorrow begins 1/2 marathon training for Jamie and I. Pretty sure the first day is going to kick my ass. It’s a rest day.
I hate rest days. I’m going to make myself take the allotted 2 days rest though for this program. I might actually need it tomorrow. I did a HIIT workout this morning and the 60 pushups, 60 dips, 60 jump squats, etc. nearly had me checking for my own pulse.
I’m looking forward to getting back into a schedule of running. I felt awesome last year when we were training. I need that. I was a much more positive person when I was running all the time. Lately the negativity of the world has been bringing me down. I’m also looking forward to running with the gals on the weekends for longer runs. I miss that.
We’re going to follow Hal Higdon’s program for Novice 2. You can find it here. We did the Novice 1 before Lincoln last year so we thought we should progress a step.
And now I must rest….before my rest day. Two full days of wrestling and elementary basketball wore me out. That could almost be counted as training. I know I exercised my mouth. I know nothing about wrestling but I can yell with the best of the crazy parents.

Here’s to a rest rest day before training. As I get older and am training for a half I find it VERY important for those rest days. I don’t bounce back as quick after a long run so those rest days are a must. Good luck to you on your training….fun fun fun! And I truly mean that, it is fun! Running with friends and sharing the journey. Running alone and letting the heaviness of this world go away on that run. Running for body, mind and soul!!!! Enjoy the journey!
